GEOG 1102 - World Regional Geography


An introduction to the major themes and issues of contemporary world regional geography with focus on a geographic examination of the cultures, politics and histories of the major human regions of the world, with particular emphasis on the roles that these regions play in the globalization process and how their people are responding to the forces of globalization. The course will examine the ways in which environment, culture, politics, history and economics interact to create unique geographical regions. It will introduce the major themes and issues addressed in contemporary phenomena of globalization in the context of history, geography, political economy, environment, culture and the pros and cons of globalization.
