PSYC 4402 - Attitude Theory and Measurement

Attitudes are usually defined as enduring evaluations of objects (e.g., people, products, issues) that guide behavior.  Attitudes are integral to many fields within and beyond psychology:  marketing and consumer behavior, decision making, stereotypes, impression formation, eating, and health, to name just a few.  In fact, the concept of attitude is one of the most studied psychological constructs.  Because the wealth of information pertaining to attitude theory is too expansive to cover in one course, this course will focus on providing an overview of 4 broad themes within attitude theory:  (1) What are attitudes? (2) How can attitudes be measured? (3) What is the relationship between attitude and behavior? (4) How can attitudes be changed?
