ENGR 2203 - Strength of Materials


The study of the mechanics of deformable bodies in compression, tension, bending, and torsion. Including axial stress and strain, thermal stress and strain, statically indeterminant systems, torsional stress and strain, power transmission in shafts, bending stresses in beams, beam deflections, combined stresses, and elastic buckling in columns. Prerequisites: A grade of C or higher in ENGR 2001 and MATH 2460.

Prerequisite/Corequisite:
(ENGR 2201 with C or greater or ENGR 2201 with TR or greater) and (MATH 2640 with C or greater or MATH 2640 with TR or greater)
