This course will cover some aspects of Russian culture and history through the medium of film. The films selected for viewing and class discussions demonstrate cultural and socio-political conditions unique to Russia. We will screen, discuss, and analyze selected Russian films from different historical periods to reveal their cultural significance. We will also explore the films’ historical, social, and cultural contexts.
