GERO 5282 - Aging Issues in the Sexual and Gender Minority

This course is designed to offer an in-depth exploration of aging issues in the Sexual and Gender Minority (SGM) community. We explore how aging as an SGM adult differs from the majority population, and examine issues in research methods, long-term care, health disparities, diversity, and public policy. Students will develop cultural competency for working with LGBTQ elders in fields such as gerontology and human services and become familiar with current literature and research in the field.
