AGRI 2000 - American Midwest Agriculture


An overview of agriculture in the Midwest, including one week of exploration in Iowa. Students will experience hands-on farming and research activities, develop an understanding of large-scale crop production, gain knowledge of large animal production, and gather data and analyze soil quality. The Iowa itinerary includes visits to local farms, agriculture companies and innovation centers, farm co-operatives, and a state-of-the-art bioethanol production facility. Students will be exposed to the broad range and details of career opportunities in agriculture and broaden their cultural knowledge through interactions with local people in Iowa. Students must pay a portion of trip expenses.

Prerequisites: BIOL 1107K or CHEM 1211K or permission of instructor
