ENGL 4170 - Special Topics in Creative Writing

This special topics course examines multi-genre literature and/or literary subgenres. Topics will vary by semester and instructor. Possible multi-genre literature topics include prose poetry, verse drama, verse novel, narrative poetry, lyric essay, epic poetry, spoken word poetry, hyper fiction, experimental fiction, podcasts, video essays, etc. Possible literary subgenre topics include horror, science fiction, speculative fiction, fantasy, alternative history, book reviews, music journalism, children’s literature, etc. The course includes a workshop format for peer discussion and revision of students’ work. May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit hours.

Prerequisite/Corequisite:
Prerequisite: One ENGL 2200-level Creative Writing course with a grade of C or higher, unless given permission by the instructor.
