SOCI 4030 - Sociology of Film


This course will use popular cinematic films to explore sociological concepts. While developing their sociological imagination, students will learn about a variety of sociological phenomenon; topics include but are not limited to racism, LGBTQ identities, medicalization, and mental health issues. In addition to learning about emerging trends, students will learn critical media literacy through analytical engagement with conceptions (and misconceptions) about cultural phenomenon.
