The University of North Georgia’s Department of Theatre offers the following degree programs:
- Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Technology
- Associate of Arts in Theatre
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design & Technology for Theatre
Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Technology
The Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Technology prepares students for further study in Theatre or a related field within a two-year or four-year degree program; it may also stand as an independent, one-year degree. The 38-credit program consists of foundational courses in Theatre and technology specific courses in theatre plus electives in Theatre and Film.
Associate of Arts in Theatre
The AA in Theatre prepares students for further study in Theatre or a related field within a four-year degree program; it may also stand as an independent, two-year degree. The 60-credit program consists of 42 credits in Areas A-E core curriculum course work, and 18 credits in foundation Theatre courses.
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design & Technology for Theatre
The BFA in Design & Technology for Theatre degree program consists of a one hundred twenty (120) semester hour sequence designed to meet the educational employment requirements of workers in theatrical design and the entertainment technology industry (film, dance, TV, etc.). It is a comprehensive degree with 78 credits in design for theatre, theatre history, foundational courses and theatre electives. An additional 42 credits are taken in Areas A-E core curriculum course work. The areas of study for this degree are technical direction, costume technology, stage management, lighting design, costume design, scenic design and sound design. (A minimum of 39 credits in 3000- and 4000-level courses in the major are required)
