Admission to the Teacher Education Program required.

The History Degree Program with Teacher Education Certification holds the same requirements as the History Degree, with the following three exceptions: 1) Area F: ECON 2105 is required rather than one 1000-2000 level ANTH, ECON GEOG, PHIL, POLS, PSYC, or SOCI course; 2) Major Area: eight upper-level History courses rather than nine; 3) Minor Area & Electives: both sections replaced with 36 hours of the Teacher Education courses.

Programs of study are subject to requirements listed in the Department of Teacher Education section of this catalog.

Core Curriculum Requirements - 60 hours

Area A1: No exceptions

Area A2: No exceptions

Area B: MLAN 1001 or 1002

Area C: ENGL 21XX or MLAN 2001

Area D: No exceptions

Area E: HIST 1112 and HIST 2111 recommended

Note: All students pursuing a degree in History must complete HIST 1111, 1112, 2111, & 2112. Typically, 1112 and 2111 will be completed in AREA E and 1111 and 2112 will be completed in AREA F.

HIST 1111 - World History I
HIST 2112 - U.S. History II
POLS 1101 - American Government
ECON 2105 - Principles of Macroeconomics
MLAN 2001*
Any 2000 level ANTH, HIST, or PHIL

*or MLAN 1002 if MLAN 2001 is used in Area C

One 3000 - 4000 level European HIST
One 3000 - 4000 level Asian, African, Latin American, or Middle Eastern HIST
One 3000 - 4000 level World HIST
One 3000 - 4000 level U.S. HIST
One 4000-level HIST Seminar
Three 3000-4000 level HIST courses (9 hours)

In order to graduate, a student must have a minimum of 2.0 for their institutional GPA and a 2.0 in their Major (Area F and the Major). Students must also complete a minor. In addition, the following are parts of each degree program:
