Area C: ENGL 21XX or MLAN 2001

Area E: HIST 1112 and HIST 2111 recommended

Note: All students pursuing a degree in History must complete HIST 1111, 1112, 2111, & 2112. Typically, 1112 and 2111 will be completed in Area E and 1111 and 2112 will be completed in Area F.

HIST 2112 - U.S. History II
POLS 1101 - American Government
MLAN 2001*
Any 2000 level ANTH, HIST, or PHIL
Select one 1000-2000 course ANTH, ECON, GEOG, PHIL, POLS, PSYC, SOCI

*or MLAN 1002 if MLAN 2001 is used in Area C

Major Requirements - 60 hours

Content - 33 hours

HIST 2000 - Historiography
One 3000 - 4000 level European HIST
One 3000 - 4000 level Asian, African, Latin American, or Middle Eastern HIST
One 3000 - 4000 level World HIST
One 3000 - 4000 level U.S. HIST
One 4000-level HIST Seminar
Four 3000-4000 level HIST courses (12 hours)

Select one of the following:

HIST 2370 - History of Western Philosophy
HIST 2410 - Religion and Thought in the Islamic World
HIST 2724 - Religion in U.S. History
HIST 2860 - History of World Religions
PHIL 2200 - Ethics from a Global Perspective
PHIL 2500 - Logic

Minor Area - 15-18 hours

Courses determined by minor

Electives - 9-12 hours

9-12 hours of elective courses

Other Requirements

A grade of “C” or higher is required for all course requirements in Area F and in the Major. Students must also complete a minor. In addition, the following are parts of each degree program:
