Linguistics Minor

The linguistics minor introduces students to the central aspects of linguistic structure and the methodologies and perspectives of the field. Students will investigate the structure of language, including syntax, semantics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, and pragmatics. They will learn about the commonalities among languages, the global diversity of language, and the dynamic nature of language as a system of communication. They will acquire knowledge and skills applicable to careers in translation, international affairs, information technology, publishing, speech pathology/therapy, audiology, education, law, medicine, library science, computer science, writing, and advertising.
