Gerontology Certificate

Location(s): Online

18 hours

The Gerontology Certificate is designed to enable students at the undergraduate level and non-degree seeking students to obtain the certificate in 2-3 semesters of course work. The Gerontology certificate is a fully online program.

Students will complete a total of 18 semester hours of upper-level undergraduate courses to meet the requirements of the certificate program. Three of the hours must come from introduction to aging classes. Twelve hours must come from Gerontology electives. Additionally, students select 3 hours from the following capstone offerings: a supervised Practicum Experience (GERO 3581) or a Research Experience (GERO 3681) with a faculty member working in any area of Gerontology or in a Gerontology setting. A faculty member in the Gerontology program must approve the practicum or research experience.

Many of the courses in the Gerontology certificate may also be used to satisfy major, minor, and elective course requirements in your Plan of Study (POS). For additional information, contact the Department of Sociology & Human Services.
