Sociological Practice Certificate

The certificate in sociological practice is designed to provide students with a credential that illustrates their acquisition of applied, public, and clinical sociological skills which they can employ in their careers and communities. Students will be exposed to the ways in which sociology and its insights can be, and have been, applied in real world scenarios and gain an understanding of what sociological practice is and how it is carried out across a variety of industries and social institutions for various purposes. The certificate can be earned alongside the BS in Sociology or the minor or as a stand-alone certification.

The certificate has the option to be completed on-line.

Certificate Requirements


All courses must be completed with a grade or C or higher.

Elective Course - 3 hours


  • Any 3000- or 4000-level 3 credit hour course in SOCI, HSDA, or other discipline with approval of an academic advisor.
