P-12 Teacher Education Programs


Requirements for Progression to the Upper Division

To be eligible for progression to upper division of the P-12 Teacher Education Programs a student must:

  1. Complete 60-80 semester hours of credit applicable to the degree program with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher;
  2. Complete EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, EDUC 2130, and Field of Study courses with a grade of C or higher;
  3. Complete Core IMPACTS Writing and Mathematics courses with a grade of C or higher;
  4. Successfully complete the field experience hours and display the professional dispositions required to work with students in schools;
  5. Complete an application for progression to the upper division of the College of Education. Application deadlines are posted on the department web page;
  6. Provide proof of liability insurance that is valid through the projected graduation date. This insurance can be purchased through any of the professional education organizations listed on the application form.
  7. Students should meet with their P-12 advisor regularly and visit the College of Education website to prepare for progression to the upper division: https://ung.edu/college-of-education/admissions.php.

Courses in P-12 Teacher Education Programs

Programs of study are listed with the appropriate P-12 programs (art, music, & physical education). The following clinical placement/internship courses are included in many of the P-12 programs of study: EDUC 3540, EDUC 4103, EDUC 4104, and EDUC 4105. Check with your advisor for details.
