Military Leadership Certificate

The certificate in military leadership is designed to enable members of the Corps of Cadets to obtain a certificate upon graduation from the University of North Georgia. Students will successfully complete or receive credit for a total of 20 hours (or the equivalent) of Military Science to meet the requirements of the certificate program.

Only cadets in good standing with the university and the military department who have earned a baccalaureate degree at UNG are eligible to receive the certificate.

Certificate Requirements

Required Courses - 8 hours

MILS 1000 - Introduction to the Army and Critical Thinking
MILS 1100 - Introduction to the Profession of Arms
MILS 2000 - Leadership and Decision Making
MILS 2100 - Army Doctrine and Team Developmentsion Making
Alternate courses only with approval from the Professor of Military Science:
MILS 1500 - Independent Study
MILS 2500 - Independent Study
Transfer credit for Military Service (Basic Training, AIT, Basic Camp) - 2 hours

Elective Courses - 12 hours

Select two courses from the following:
MILS 3000 - Training Management and the Warfighting Functions
MILS 3100 - Applied Leadership in Small Unit Operations
MILS 3400 - National Service Leadership, Values, and Ethics
MILS 3450 - National Service Agencies and Management
Select two courses from the following:
MILS 4000 - The Army Officer
MILS 4100 - Company Grade Leadership
MILS 4400 - National Service Leadership Development
MILS 4450 - National Service Leadership Capstone
