The concentration in Computational Physics is designed to prepare students for the increasing role of computation in the discipline by building on a strong foundation in physics, complemented by proficiency in scientific computing as well as enhanced preparation in mathematics for computational modeling. Through this program, students will gain hands-on experience with numerical methods, modeling and simulation, algorithm development, and advanced data analysis techniques, enabling them to tackle complex problems in physics and astronomy. The concentration will provide students with transferable skills in computing and data analytics that are highly valued in both academia and industry, including fields such as engineering, materials science, and data science. Graduates will be well positioned for interdisciplinary careers or advanced study in computational physics, scientific computing, and related disciplines.
