SPAN 3430 - Spanish in the U.S. This course will provide students with a descriptive overview of the linguistic characteristics of different Spanish-speaking communities in the United States. Focus will be on the context in which Spanish is used in society, contact with English, language and identity, historical context, the role of Spanish in everyday contexts, and the future of the Spanish language in the U.S. Class conducted in Spanish.
Prerequisite/Corequisite: Prerequisite: SPAN 2002 or SPAN 2006A, or permission from the instructor
