The Department of Psychological Science offers an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with a pathway in Behavioral Sciences and courses related to Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology. These degrees are focused on the science of behavior and the mind. The A.S. exposes students to a variety of specializations within the discipline, and the B.S. provides students with rigorous training in the science of psychology. The core of this program includes courses that give students a strong foundation in many areas of psychology and the skills necessary to conduct and evaluate research and to interpret findings. Students completing a major in psychology will be prepared to pursue a range of careers at the bachelor’s level or to pursue advanced training in psychology or other professional schools. Psychology majors are encouraged to complete the experimental course sequence (Quantitative Methods and Research Methods) during the sophomore year and are expected to complete their capstone Senior Psychology Seminar course in their final semester. All majors in the department are encouraged to engage in an applied and/or experimental experience (e.g., internship or research) and are expected to demonstrate competency and skills in their major as well as oral, written, and critical thinking abilities. B.S. Psychology majors are required to complete a minor. Each student will meet with a faculty advisor to develop academic and career goals and strategies. The Department sponsors a chapter of the international psychology honor society, Psi Chi, and students majoring or minoring in psychology that meet high standards of academic excellence are eligible for membership. Membership in the Psychology Club is available to all students enrolled in the University.

The Department of Psychological Science also offers minors in Leadership - Interdisciplinary, Neuroscience, and Psychology.
