History with Teacher Certification (B.A.)

Completion of an application through the College of Education for progression to the upper division courses is required. Please see the College of Education website at https://ung.edu/college-of-education/admissions.php for more information regarding deadlines and requirements.
The History Degree Program with Teacher Education Certification holds the same requirements as the History Degree, with the following two exceptions: 1) Major Area: eight upper-level History courses rather than nine; 2) Minor Area & Electives: both sections replaced with 36 hours of the Teacher Education courses.
Programs of study are subject to requirements listed in the College of Education Middle Grades, Science, and Secondary Education section of this catalog.

Note: All students pursuing a degree in History must complete HIST 1111, 1112, 2111, & 2112. Typically, 1112 and 2111 will be completed in AREA E and 1111 and 2112 will be completed in AREA F.

A GPA of 2.50 is required for progression to the upper division for all College of Education initial certification programs. In order to graduate, a student must have a minimum of 3.0 for their institutional and overall GPA and a “C” or higher in their major course work (Field of Study and the Major).
