P-12 Teacher Education Programs

The College of Education offers the following Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) programs leading to teacher certification, preparing students to teach grades kindergarten through 12:
All programs require students to complete an application for progression to their upper division courses through the College of Education.
Requirements for Progression to the Upper Division
To be eligible for progression to upper division of the P-12 Teacher Education Programs a student must:
- Complete 60-80 semester hours of credit applicable to the degree program with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher;
- Complete EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, EDUC 2130, and Field of Study courses with a grade of C or higher;
- Complete Core IMPACTS Writing, Mathematics, and STEM Math/Tech courses with a grade of C or higher;
- Successfully complete the field experience hours and display the professional dispositions required to work with students in schools;
- Complete an application for progression to the upper division of the College of Education. Application deadlines are posted on the department web page;
- Provide proof of liability insurance that is valid through the projected graduation date. This insurance can be purchased through any of the professional education organizations listed on the application form.
- Students should meet with their P-12 advisor regularly and visit the College of Education website to prepare for progression to the upper division: https://ung.edu/college-of-education/admissions.php.
