MGSE 3090 - English Language Arts Methods


This course provides opportunities for middle school English/Language Arts majors to learn and use materials and resources to bring grades 6-8 students to high levels of reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing visually representing, and thinking as well as to integrate language arts across the curriculum which is aligned to the GA Performance Standards, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the International Reading Association Standards.  Guided field experiences are required.

This course is used at the bachelor’s level to prepare middle school English/Language Arts majors to successfully work and implement appropriate strategies in their future English/Language Arts middle school classrooms.

Prerequisite/Corequisite:
Successful completion of the Associate level courses for A-E as well as Area F requirements for the Middle School English major (EDUC 2110, 2120, 2130, and six upper level hours to support the primary concentration of language arts (6 hours) and three upper level hours to support the secondary concentration selected from mathematics, science, or social sciences.
