SOCI 3610 - Sociology of Medicine This course examines the social, cultural, political, and economic context of health and illness. Early in the course we will focus on the macro or structural aspects of health and health care. Later our focus will turn toward the micro, with an examination of professional socialization, patient-physician interactions, and the personal narratives of illness and disability. The course offers a critical perspective on health and illness and highlights the connection between social justice, social transformation, and health and illness.
Prerequisite/Corequisite: Prerequisite: SOCI 1101 or SOCI 1160 or permission of instructor.

Notes: This course will not be a part of the core curriculum, but will count as a 3-hour upper level elective for some four-year programs.
