SOCI 6160 - The Family


This course is designed to familiarize students with contemporary trends in families and relationships.  Using sociological perspectives, students are encouraged to understand the variety of families in our society as both a result and a driver of wide-ranging social and technological change. Specific topics will vary but may include (but are not limited to) dating culture, relationship dynamics, conflict and power in relationships, types of love, parenting trends, family violence, divorce, remarriage, blended families, reproduction, and demographic trends.
