CSED 6001 - Introduction to Cybersecurity


This course is designed for Computer Science Endorsement students to understand the critical role of cybersecurity in business and society today. This course covers several security topics pertaining cybersecurity in software, operating systems, databases, networks, and human behavior. The course explains fundamentals of cybersecurity such as threats, vulnerabilities, controls, encryption, risk assessment, security policy, compliance, and administrative security. The technical content of the course provides a broad overview of essential concepts and methods for assessing and assuring security in information systems and networks. In addition, the course examines the importance of security policy, social issues and privacy, and the role of public policy and international law. 
 

Prerequisite/Corequisite:
Prerequisites: Acceptance into the UNG Computer Science Endorsement, including holding a T4 clear, renewable teaching certificate and either employment within or access to a K12 school
 
Corequisite: EDUC 6020
