The Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Bachelor of Science degree programs in Interdisciplinary Studies are designed for students who wish to expand their educational experience beyond a single educational track. The Bachelor of Science program requires students to complete advanced discipline content in three focus areas. Students will bring their cross-disciplinary knowledge and skills to advanced study in other areas. In IDST 4000, the Interdisciplinary Studies Capstone course, students will document their achievement of North Georgia’s learning outcomes. The baccalaureate degree program in Interdisciplinary Studies is ideally suited to support students’ desire for a broad-based educational experience.
Starting with the Fall 2017 semester, IDST 2000 will be required of all new Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies majors, including new transfer students, new declared majors, and A.A. and A.S. students transitioning to the Bachelor degree.
UNG realizes that its students have a variety of needs, so University Studies courses address those needs. UNIV 1000 provides a first-year seminar experience designed to stimulate thinking in a positive classroom environment. UNIV 1101 offers students the opportunity to brush up on important academic skills, such as understanding and using learning styles, taking notes, and remembering information. UNIV 2001 allows students to use their own interests and abilities to explore relevant career options.
