The Department of Mathematics offers an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with a pathway in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics. The B.S. degree is offered on both the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses. Students may begin their B.S. degree on any UNG campus but must complete the program on either the Dahlonega or Gainesville campuses. The Department of Mathematics also offers minors in Data Science, Mathematics, and Statistics.
In addition to courses, the department offers advisement for application to a variety of graduate and professional programs. Students should consult their academic advisor for assistance in choosing courses that both comply with degree requirements for a major in Mathematics and meet the admission requirements for the graduate career or professional program in which they have interest. Students interested in pursuing secondary education teacher certification in mathematics at the bachelor’s level should review the Mathematics Education (BSED) offered through the College of Education.
The Department of Mathematics offers a dual degree program that allows students to receive both a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UNG and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Kennesaw State University, Georgia Southern University, Mercer University, the University of Georgia, or Clemson University. Students begin their studies at UNG and after completing the specified UNG curriculum, transfer to the engineering college where they complete a degree in engineering. When the engineering degree is completed, the student can request their bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UNG be awarded.
