The College of Education offers a fully online graduate–level certificate program designed for experienced education professionals who hold a Master’s degree and seek to develop their leadership potential in facilitating transfer student success. This program is the only credit-bearing certificate program for transfer leadership and practice in the country. The program begins in the fall semester of each year and courses are accepted as part of the College’s Higher Education Leadership and Practice doctoral program.
General Admission Eligibility
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution (as defined under Accredited Institutions in the Academic Information section of the Graduate Catalog) with at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 (4.0 scale) at the master’s level calculated in accordance with Graduate Admissions procedures.
- Required Supplemental Documents
- A one-page statement outlining specific interest in the certificate program and any background in education or with transfer student populations
Appeal of Admissions
A candidate whose application is denied has the right to appeal the decision. A written letter of appeal must include strong evidence to support the basis for your appeal. The appeal should consist of information beyond what was previously submitted in your admissions file and detail your ability to be successful in graduate studies.

Transfer Leadership and Practice Academic Policies
Incomplete Grades
The College of Education adheres to the uniform grading system in the Academic Information section of the Graduate Catalog. No student carrying two incompletes (“I”), either of which has been extended over one semester, may enroll in additional course work without the written consent of the College of Education Graduate Office.
Academic Standing Policy
Any student who receives a grade of C or lower will be subject to a program review to determine the student’s eligibility to enroll in coursework for the subsequent semester. If a student is suspended from the certificate program, the student may apply, after a period of three semesters from the date the student was removed, by submitting to Graduate Admissions a new application for readmission.
Academic Integrity
The University of North Georgia recognizes honesty and integrity as being necessary to the academic functioning of the university. UNG graduate students are expected to uphold the university regulations addressed in the Student Code of Conduct, Article 3, Rule 2.
