GISC 4490K - Applied Image Processing This course covers applied image processing techniques and their application to solving real world environmental problems. The course focuses on use of cloud computing for data analysis. Algorithms examined include noise modeling, filtering, geometric transformations, and multi-resolution processing, boundary extraction, region filling, thinning, thickening, pruning, region growing, self-organizing map and fuzzy c-means clustering. This course will also include LIDAR, RADAR, Sensor Fusion, sub-pixel classification and Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA). Students will also learn hands on techniques for spectral signature measurement and their application to classification techniques.
