MUED 3210 - General Music Methods and Literature


This introductory music education course will examine the “Big Four” pedagogical approaches to elementary general music curriculum, including Dalcroze, Kodaly, Orff, and Music Learning Theory, with a central focus on “Best” instructional practices. Students will develop a repertoire of age-appropriate songs, games, and activities aligned with the national and state standards for music content, grades K-5. Course topics will include multicultural approaches to music education and technology tools for music content. Students will hone skills in curriculum planning, instructional sequencing, and assessment in an experiential peer teaching lab. Field experiences will be integrated with academic instruction.

Prerequisites: MUSC 1012 with a grade of C or higher, or permission of instructor
