HLTH 3900 - Medical Ethics and Bioethics Even though ethics in the biomedical professions has had a distinguished history, the pressures of the modern world and its fast pace of change call for a more up-to-date awareness of the concepts and forms of reasoning required to analyze current medical and bioethical issues. In this regard, medical ethics focuses on the treatment of the patient, and bioethics focuses on technology and how it is used in healthcare. This course will teach students how to identify and analyze the moral problems that have emerged from professional practice in the fields of clinical medicine, biomedical and biotechnology research, nursing, public health, and the social and behavioral sciences.
