COMP 3300 - Ethics and Compliance Metrics and Data Management


This course has four goals:  (1) to introduce the concepts and understanding of key processes and measurements associated with tasking and tracking ethics and compliance activities; (2) to introduce data management as it pertains to compliance, along with network instruments used to measure and store the related data; (3) to provide an overview of information security, focusing on the data protection controls for a variety of sets of protected data (e.g., HIPAA, financial data), as well as the ethical and legal considerations associated with data management, and (4) to review current events and emerging issues related to data management and information technology compliance. The course includes an overview of governance issues and employs an example system to demonstrate the concepts covered in each course module.
