ARED 6350 - History & Design of Art Education Programs in Schools & Communities ARED 6350 will provide preservice art educators with a historical, contextual and philosophical foundation for understanding the discipline of art education. This course will introduce the components of a quality, standards -based art program and students will identify, classify and understand art instruction that aligns with the National Visual Arts Standards and the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Visual Art Education. Additionally, students will be introduced to examples of innovative and exemplary art programs and consider the contextual factors that impact an art program’s success. Principles of performance-based program/classroom assessment and evaluation will be reviewed as they apply to curricular and programmatic decision making and student will develop a capstone project based on their educational research developing it into curriculum application for the classrooms where they teach.
