Secondary (6-12) Teacher Education Programs

The College of Education offers the following Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) programs leading to secondary certification, preparing students to teach grades 6 through 12:
All programs require students to complete an application for progression to their upper division courses through the College of Education.
Progression to Upper Division/Major Requirements
After completion of the core, to be eligible for progression to the upper division courses in all BSED programs, a student must:
- Complete 60 to 80 semester hours of Core IMPACTS and Field of Study credit applicable to the program with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher.
- Complete EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, EDUC 2130, and Field of Study courses with a grade of C or higher;
- Complete Core IMPACTS Writing, Mathematics, and STEM Math/Tech courses with a grade of C or higher;
- All secondary content coursework requires a “C” grade or higher;
- Complete an application for progression to the upper division, which includes the required pre-service certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The application deadline is posted on the College of Education website at https://ung.edu/college-of-education/admissions.php.
- Provide proof of liability insurance valid through projected graduation date. This insurance can be purchased through any of the professional education organizations listed on the application form;
- Provide a copy of signed plan of study
